After various requests from SaddleDrunkers, last weekend was the first ride to Paris that we will undertake this summer.

Therefore I have decided that the riders will talk about the ride in few lines.

The first is Hilary,and here is what she has to say:

SADDLEDRUNK HAVE COME UP TOPS AGAIN WITH THIS SUPERB 24 HOUR CYCLE FROM LONDON TO PARIS ! I ENJOY A GOOD CHALLENGE SO I TOOK ON THIS TRIP. THE ORGANISATION OF THIS TRIP WAS SEAMLESS,WHICH MEANT THAT THE TRIP WAS REALLY ENJOYABLE AND STRESS-FREE TO GO ON. THE SIZE OF THE GROUP WAS IDEAL, AND AS A WOMAN IT WAS GREAT TO KNOW THAT THERE WERE BOTH MALE AND FEMALE RIDERS ON THE TRIP.THE RIDE WAS GENUINELY WONDERFUL AND THE GROUP LEADERS AND OTHER RIDERS WERE SUPPORTIVE AND WE HAD A LOT OF FUN. THE HOTEL IN PARIS WAS NOT ONLY WELL SITUATED IN PARIS , BUT ALSO VERY COMFORTABLE (INCLUDING OWN POOL WHICH WAS A WELCOME RECOVERY TONIC !! ) I'M REALLY NOT SURE HOW ALL THIS WAS POSSIBLE AT SUCH A LOW PRICE - AND ON TOP OF EVERYTHING WE GOT A SADDLEDRUNK CYCLING SHIRT. - I WILL CERTAINLY BE BACK FOR ANOTHER TRIP , THANKS SADDLEDRUNK !!

I rode the London to Paris to raise money for Guys and St Thomas hospital in honour of my close friend who sadly passed away after a short illness earlier this year and to see if it was going to be as hard as it was the first time did it.

The ride was fantastic which was largely helped by the great route and organisation of Saddle Drunk (cheers Stef) and the fact that the sun shone the whole time! The group also played its part in making the whole experience a thing that will be remembered for a long time 🚴

If I could I would do it all again.

This is from David which he rode with an amazing bike:

I only did the L2P for myself, no charitable purpose I’m afraid. I didn’t really know what to expect but was very pleasantly surprised as all but one of the riders was a stranger. I wanted to try out a different type of wheel and tyre (i.e. 650B x 42 at 40 psi) over a long ride. I was less pleasantly surprised by incubating a virus that caused (among other things) a hideous case of conjunctivitis. Happy to say that I seem to have recovered. I was delighted to discover some real back roads and farm roads on the way to Cergy-Pontoise, but I’m still looking for them on the map!

I’d certainly do it again.
