Dear cycling supporter,
Wed. Feb 7th is an important day with THREE key events:
1. BE A KEYBOARD WARRIOR: Europa Oil have re-submitted their Traffic Management Plan. As it’s a new application all your previous arguments need to be repeated – and there are some new points to be made. Cyclists still face potential danger: for example the oil company are removing all signage each day which means when cyclists cycle downhill at speed they will be unaware of possible surface problems etc caused by HGVs. Please go to our A Voice for Leith Hill website for info & tips on what to write. All objections have to be in by the 7th.
2. STAND UP AND BE HEARD: Mole Valley District Council are discussing the Traffic Management Plan at the Council Offices, Pippbrook on Wed 7th Feb at 7.00. Write to local councillors beforehand to object: you can send them a copy of your SCC objection letter. And join us outside Pippbrook for a peaceful demo. From c 6.50. RH4 1SJ: car park nearby.
3. SET THE WORLD TO RIGHTS: At the lovely Narnia Room at the Old House Pub, West St RH4 1BY. Go through the wardrobe at the back of the bar (yes, really!) and join other like-minded people. It starts soon after 7.30. Go along after the demo / go along anyway. All very welcome. SOLIDARITY SATURDAYS: The Protection Camp is holding regular Solidarity Saturday open days with an informal direct action workshop. Everyone is welcome to find out more about non-violent direct action, and the roles that support this, such as legal observing, welfare, and transport. The camp can be found on Coldharbour Lane opposite the intended drill site.
See www.leithhillprotectioncamp.co.uk for details.
